Drying pasta in 1900's
Most theories said that MR Marco might have found or done great things on his journeys, but bringing pasta to Italy was not one of them ( noodle's were known there in Polo's time). There is indeed evidence of an Etrusco-Roman noodle made from the same durum wheat used to produce modern pasta, it was called "lagane" or better known in modern word which is lasagna.
However, this type of food was not boiled as it usually done today but oven baked. Ancient pasta had some similarities with modern pasta cannot be considered quite the same.

During that time, the shapes of pasta only available for two shapes such as lasagna and macaroni. Basic ingredients of pasta are wheat flour which is highly nutrient. Early pasta making was difficult, day-long process. People that time made the pasta using hands (homemade) or even shape it after that they dried under the sun.
